This may be a good gesture to bar old candidates for contesting parliamentary elections. But when a party,particularly BJP (other parties are happily giving ticket to their old colleagues-even after crossing 80 years of age) , denies them ticket due to old age, the person happily swift to other political party which is willing to give them ticket for contesting parliamentary post. This candidate wastes no time in criticizing their old party; how much suffocation is there; it was very difficult to survive in such atmosphere etc
It may appear funny to many people about their utterances when denied the ticket. All of them , perhaps without any exception,bark that they want to do social work ; they are after social work; want to uplift our poor people hence it is necessary for them to contest for a ticket. This means , the political party should be ready to sponsor them till they are in this mortal world. And how much they are eager to share their life time experience in upliftment of the poor public. But if you search their past history , you will not find any important public work which they did except that comes under their parliamentary work.
As per a report, many parliamentarians are only High school pass while only very few are graduates or exceptionally holding a doctorate degree. In contrast , if you see faculty members of any educational institute , all of them are holding a Ph.D. degree or are pursuing to obtain the same. No doubt they are expert in their field and contributing their mite in the field of specialization. But they do have a limit and in India all Education Institutes terminate their job as soon as they attain a age of 65 years . So is the case with our Judiciary. At times , it is difficult to find their substitute and the field remains unattended many years.
Now compare these specialized persons who retire at the age of 65 years of age while our parliamentarians are reluctant to retire even after the age of 75 years ?
will our intellectuals give a deep thought over this contrasting situation ?
